520 _aABSTRACT A field experiment was conducted at MARS, UAS, Dharwad during kharif season, 2023-24 to study the weed management in soybean through herbicides and water extracts of sorghum and sunflower. The experiment was laid out in RCBD, comprising of three replication and twelve treatments. Among the phytoextracts weed management practices spraying of Diclosulam 84% WDG @ 50 % of RD 22 g ha-1 (PE) + 10 % w/v sunflower water extract at 15, 30 DAS (18 l ha-1) recorded higher soybean seed yield (1903 kg ha-1), haulm yield (2135 kg ha-1) and as it recorded significantly lower dry weight (11.33 g m-2) at 60 DAS, weed index (15.94 %) and highest weed control efficiency (79.79 %), which inturn enhanced the yield of soybean. However it was found on par with application of spraying of 10 % w/v sorghum and sunflower water extract at 15, 30, 40 DAS (18 l ha-1 each) recorded higher soybean seed yield (1856 kg ha-1), haulm yield (2051 kg ha-1) and as it recorded significantly lower dry weight (12.00 g m-2) at 60 DAS, weed index (18.02 %) and highest weed control efficiency (78.59 %). Thus, the present study revealed that spraying of Diclosulam 84% WDG @ 50 % of RD 22 g ha-1 (PE) + 10 % w/v sunflower water extract at 15, 30 DAS (18 l ha-1) and spraying of 10 % w/v sorghum and sunflower water extract at 15, 30, 40 DAS (18 l ha-1 each) is better weed management practice for enhancing the productivity, profitability and also it reduces the load of herbicides in to soil and maintain sustainability besides effective control of weeds in soybean.
